Ikon appoints Hugh McGilligan as national head of strategy

In 2011 McGilligan joined Edelman as its senior vice president of brand stewardship in New York City. He held the role for almost three years.

David Gerrie, COO at Ikon, said in a statement: “Hugh is an outstanding strategist who brings a wealth of diverse experience to this role. He has also demonstrated strong management skills and business development acumen, both of which will be a valuable addition to our national team.”

In other appointments, Ikon has promoted its head of media services, Pia Coyle to the role of national head of investment.

Coyle was the head of media services for almost two years and has been with the agency for six years.

Gerrie said: “Pia was an obvious choice to lead Ikon’s dynamic trading product and teams. Her unrivalled understanding of our client’s needs and the rapidly evolving marketplace amplifies our cross-office offer. We are keen for her to take this next step and delighted to welcome her to the national team.”

Earlier in June, Ikon unveiled a new national leadership structure which saw managing partner Pat Crowley undertake a role focuses solely on foundation client Commonwealth Bank.
