A MediaCom veteran, Hjoberg joins Ikon from MediaCom Sweden where he held the position of CEO for the last 12 years. Under his leadership the agency went to number one in the market and held the highest client satisfaction scores of any MediaCom office in the network. Hjoberg will work alongside current Managing Director Emma Bolser and report into GroupM CEO, Sean Seamer. In addition to his responsibilities as joint MD at Ikon, he will sit with Bolser on the GroupM NZ board.

Seamer says: “From the start of this process, Emma and I were looking to bring a complementary skillset to the business and we’ve done just that. Linus’ proven credentials internationally combine well with Emma’s local experience and as a team they form a compelling proposition.

It’s great that we have been able to attract someone of Linus’ calibre to the market. He has an amazing track record and represents a strong cultural fit for us. We look forward to Linus helping shape the future of not only Ikon, but GroupM in New Zealand”.

Ikon Communications NZ is a top Ten Media agency with an enviable client list including 2degrees, Coca-Cola, Subway and Jetstar. Joint Managing Director Emma Bolser commented: “this is a tremendous development for Ikon and I am delighted to welcome Linus to the business. When we sat down to create this role, I was very focused on finding someone that would fit well with Ikon’s culture and complement me in our day-to-day roles. I’m very happy that we have been able to do that.

Linus has blown me away, not just because of his incredible level of experience and proven results; but also because he has a genuine commitment to people and culture – all of which is crucial to take Ikon to the next level. I am really excited about the future and the path we can forge together.”

Hjoberg, who starts later in September, added “I’m so proud to get the opportunity to work with Emma and her amazing team. Ikon truly has a unique position and a fantastic client base. Together with the extraordinary opportunities GroupM offer we will continue to develop Ikon as a leading media agency in NZ.”
