I’m a Celebrity delivers rare ratings win for Ten

The absence of Nine’s Married at First Sight and Seven’s My Kitchen Rules from the schedule let Ten’s I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here win Thursday night’s ratings.

800,000 tuned into I’m Celebrity, with the show’s two segments finishing first and third in the key age demographics of 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54. Ten’s Gogglebox, which attracted 715,000 metro viewers, picked up second spot in all three groups, reports OzTam’s overnight preliminary ratings.

At the other end of the day’s TV, Nine’s struggling Today breakfast show had 201,000 metro viewers tune in, up from the previous day’s dismal 177,000 but still well behind rival Sunrise’s 280,000.

The most watched metro shows on Thursday night were Seven News, Today Tonight and Nine News which attracted 926,000, 840,000 and 821,000 respectively.

In audience share, Ten was the most watched network with 18.2% of the metro market tuning in, beating out Nine’s 17.3% and Seven’s 17.0%. The ABC and SBS picked up 11.9% and 4.3%.

Despite winning the main channel share, Ten’s network share of 24.7% wasn’t enough to beat out its commercial rivals with Seven picking up 26.4% of the audience and Nine 25.3%. The ABC had 16.7% and SBS 7.0%.

The official 40-week TV ratings year kicks off this Sunday.
