I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here to begin January 5 on Ten

Returning for its sixth season, I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here will launch on January 5, 2020 on Ten, with hosts Dr Chris Brown and Julia Morris back in the driver’s seats. The duo will again lead the format from the South African jungle, five nights a week.

Ten also revealed the first celebrity who will be making their way into the wild with Morris and Brown. Brown’s The Living Room co-host Miguel Maestre has been named as the first contestant for the 2020 season.

In a press release which stated Ten ‘loves to torture a celebrity’, the network said Maestre’s appearance in the teaser trailer for the program which dropped earlier in the year was not a mistake.

“Fine, we’ll admit it. We love to torture a celebrity over here at Network 10 HQ. Well…almost as much as you love watching it,” read the statement.

“Did you happen to catch that sexy Spaniard Miguel Maestre in the first look promo? That was no accident. The loveable co-host of 10’s TV Week Logie-Award winning The Living Room will be trading in his chef hat for an Akubra.”

The release also teased an Australian comedian, an AFL legend and a ‘television megastar’. The winner of the series receives $100,000 to be donated to their charity of choice.

In 2019, gossip guru Richard Reid took the crown. Comedian Fiona O’Loughlin won the year before, after Casey Donovan took the title in 2017. Brendan Fevola won in 2016 and Andrew Flintoff took the very first King Of The Jungle title.

Morris and Brown are returning for season six of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here

Season one first premiered to 1.19m metro viewers in 2015, with the final winner announcement bringing in 1.14m. Season two faired better with 1.32m for the premiere but just 858,000 for the winner announcement.

Season three drew 1.1m and 1.05m, four brought in 1.27m and 804,000 and last year’s season five delivered 1.09m and 894,000.

I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here will premiere on Ten, January 5 at 7.30pm.
