The announcement:

Boutique public relations company In The Media PR has just appointed senior journalist Laura Tunstall as a Campaign Director.

Ms Tunstall has nearly 20 years of experience as a broadcast journalist, most recently as an on-air reporter with Channel Nine.

Her new role will involve developing media strategy for clients, managing staff and media coverage, as well crisis communications and media training.

“As a reporter I’ve helped tell people’s stories in the media for close to two decades. I’m really looking forward to continuing this storytelling for companies in my new role,” she says.

“I think the media landscape is changing significantly and more than ever companies and organisations need journalists to help create content that’s relevant for audiences and stories that matter to people.”

“What appealed to me about In The Media PR is that all their staff are journalists and they have their finger on the pulse when it comes to the news agenda and creating very targeted media campaigns.”

Ms Tunstall has been a reporter with the Nine Network for 11 years, covering major stories in Australia and overseas such as Cyclone Pam in Vanuatu, the disappearance of William Tyrell, the Lindt Café siege, the 2019 Blue Mountains bushfires and the COVID pandemic. Prior to working in news she spent 3 years as a reporter with A Current Affair chasing conmen down the street and covering consumer issues.

She is also well known for her achievements in radio, both at 2GB where she spent 3 years as a crime reporter and at 2UE where she started at the age of 21. She has won several radio awards including Best Sports Coverage for reporting at the Beijing Olympics and the Brian White Memorial Award for Excellence in Journalism.

In The Media PR co-director Janyne Moore says: “We are really pleased to have Laura join our team. She brings a wealth of recent experience and has already landed some great opportunities for our clients.”

In The Media PR was started in 2016 by two ex-journalists Janyne Moore, who has a background in radio, having spent six years as Executive Producer for Ray Hadley’s morning show on 2GB, and Oryana Angel who comes from print, having written for The Australian, The Daily Telegraph, Qantas Magazine, SMH and Australian Geographic.

The agency has been a finalist in the Mumbrella CommsCon PR Agency of the Year – Boutique/ Small.

Clients include Toyota + KINTO, Car Next Door which was acquired by Uber last month, Royal Hospital For Women Foundation, Heart Research Institute and more.
