In the Raw readings to launch with Sleepwalker
Matt Wheeldon’s thriller script Sleepwalker will launch the Sydney season of the Dungog Film Festival script reading program In the Raw.
“This is our first public reading, after two years of development and I have to admit to a touch of nerves. Dungog has helped to secure a wonderful ‘reading’ cast, and the Sydney Theatre space is the perfect test-drive location. It will be fascinating to see and hear how it will play ‘live’, especially given the unusual bent of the film,” said Wheeldon.
“I have no doubt the audience will be constructive, considered and kind, and that I’ll return to Melbourne with a swag of new ideas and a mountain of encouragement. That said, I’ll be packing a ‘piece’…just in case the crowd turns ugly.”
Sleepwalker was nominated for the Monte Miller AWGIE Award for unproduced scripts; it explores the idea of a lie so great it splits reality in two. Wolf Creek and Underbelly star Kestie Morassi has been cast as a troubled young mother fighting to protect her son.
In the Raw will be held in Sydney on February 7. For more information visit http://dungogfilmfestival.org/2011/in-the-raw.html
