InDaily publisher Solstice Media acquires SALife and CityMag

South Australian publisher Solstice Media – which produces InDaily – has acquired SALife magazine, as well as Masthead Studio, publisher of CityMag.

Masthead Studio’s assets will also add “a much-needed quality content marketing division” to Solstice Media, the announcement said, noting the company can now create and publish bespoke content for South Australian organisations.

SALife staff will move across to Solstice Media

The acquisitions are effective from June 29, with all SALife staff joining Solstice Media to produce the monthly magazine and its website. Sub-brands including SAGardens & Outdoor, SALife Food & Wine and SAHomes & Interiors will also move across, with Solstice Media adding digital platforms to their offerings.

Solstice Media said the acquisitions made it the state’s leading independently-owned local media outlet and brought employment and publishing opportunities to South Australia.

Paul Hamra, managing director of Solstice Media, said the media brands – InDaily, SALife and CityMag – were a perfect fit, “providing quality, locally-produced, journalism for the educated and aspirational demographic in South Australia, across all age groups”.

“Four key words tell the story – local, quality independent media. That’s really needed in South Australia right now,” he said.

“The opportunities to weave these products together and tell South Australian stories in different platforms – digital, print, live events and social – is so exciting for readers and advertisers.”

Hamra also paid tribute to David Smith who founded SALife 15 years ago.

“It is an outstanding media success story and he leaves it in safe hands,” he said.

“In the future, readers and advertisers will see SALife, InDaily and CityMag come to life in new ways, taking advantage of new media and storytelling.”
