Initiative Sydney drop Cannes for Cannesberra
Initiative Sydney’s John Dawson and Nicole Bouquet decided to swap Cannes for Cannesberra last week, foregoing the advertising festival for a trip to the Australian capital.
The Initiative team documented the trip via five YouTube videos and blogged their experiences over the five day trip.
Strategy director Nicole Bouquet joined Initiative in January 2017 after spending time with UM in both New York and Sydney.
2 young guns sticking their necks out to dive deep into the powerful grey matter coalescing around the Cote d’ACT. Tommy G can pontificate all he likes from his birdcage, but the real marketing leaders slog it out behind a dumpster in Dixon. Only constructive build: where’s the P2P tagging?

It’s high time Marketing Enterprises (M.E) looked beyond the programmatic pilferers and VTR vagabonds cramming their feed with promises of pinpoint accuracy and hyper-ultra-infinitesimal targeting coupled with 9D immersive experiences. We have so much to learn from the industries adjacent to marketing and beyond, I for one would love to join these two next time. But most importantly, as we take the pulse of our once proud industry, we have to ask: M.E Ok?

I never met Graham. His rippling folds of fake skin and dead eyes haunt my dreams. I’ve watched the Grand Prix case study hundreds of times. Schoolchildren may study him – but I have never MET Graham. But this, this is different. I feel as if I’ve really met John and Nicole. It’s almost as if John and Nicole are Graham, and YouTube is the elaborate plinth he sat on. My screen in this scenario becomes the groundbreaking use of AR to bring ‘Graham’ (as in John and Nicole) to life. Applying this to my marketing output becomes the Victorian Primary School Syllabus that Graham (real Graham, not John and Nicole) became a part of. I never met Graham, but this content will stay with me. Much like his cold, empty stare.
