Insurgent beats Home to top box office while Chappie slides badly
The second film of the Divergent series, Insurgent, has swept the box office over the weekend taking $4.124m on its debut, holding off animated comedy Home.
Dreamworks’ latest blockbuster about an alien invasion starring Rhianna and Jim Parsons. managed $2.803m on its opening weekend on 333 screens, compared to Insurgent’s 393 screen showing.

Third spot went to last week’s number one Will Smith con movie Focus, which stars Australian Margot Robbie, and took $1.104m on the weekend on 276, taking its total box office to $7.063m.
However Hugh Jackman film Chappie slipped below the million dollar mark in its second week to $650,401 across 266 screens, bested by Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel which had $1.074m in takings in fourth spot, with a totla box office of $13.2m to date.
Kingsman and Fifty Shades of Grey continue to hang around the top ten with $445,815 and $208,295 respectively while the debut of Shaun the Sheep movie had $189,569 across 138 screens.
