Internal appointment at MIFF
The Melbourne International Film Festival has appointed its Accelerator coordinator and head of programming Michelle Carey as MIFF’s new Artistic Director.
Carey has worked for MIFF for the last four years, and previously held positions at the Adelaide Film Festival, the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, the AFI Research Collection and the Media Resource Centre (Adelaide).
She is currently the president of the long-running Melbourne Cinémathèque and Editor of Film Festivals at the online film journal Senses of Cinema. Michelle is also a scout for Australian cinema for the Rotterdam International Film Festival and has been on juries at Rotterdam and the Indie Lisboa film festival in Portugal.
Carey will start on September 1.
