IPG Mediabrands’ Perth MD Clive Bingwa exits for Nine

IPG Mediabrands’ Perth managing director, Clive Bingwa, has joined Nine Perth as its managing director and director of sales, as both companies reshuffle their Western Australian operations.

Bingwa joined IPG Mediabrands at the beginning of 2015 from his previous 15 year stint at 303 MullenLowe where he was a partner and national media director.

Bingwa will commence his role effective immediately

The media executive said he is “excited” to be joining Nine.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity in front of us in the Perth market and what we can achieve with our streamlined integrated offer that will actively remove barriers and efficiently deliver effective solutions,” Bingwa said in a statement.

Bingwa is replacing Ray Wardrop who recently departed Nine after spending two years as Nine Perth’s managing director.

Michael Stephenson, the chief sales officer at Nine, said Bingwa will add a “new perspective” to the company.

“Clive will be working closely with our advertisers and agency partners with a focus on delivering real business outcomes.

“He has the best Australian content, world-class advertising technology in 9Galaxy and a unique data infrastructure at his fingertips to ensure we are the most effective media partner for every Perth client,” Stephenson added.

Bingwa will report into Nine’s director of commercial partnerships Ian Paterson and Nine’s director of television sales, Richard Hunwick.

Replacing Bingwa at IPG Mediabrands is Luke O’Sullivan and Judi van Omme.

van Omme and O’Sullivan

O’Sullivan has been promoted from his previous role as strategy director to head Initiative’s Perth office while van Omme has been promoted from her previous role as head of investment partnerships to general manager of Initiative Perth.

Melissa Fein, CEO at Initiative Australia, said in a statement: “It’s great testament to the success and momentum of our Initiative WA business that we have talent of the calibre of Luke and Judi to take on the agency’s leadership.

“Luke has great passion and experience as a media strategist, client and team leader. Judi is a highly respected and experienced professional and fully deserves her new role.”

In other appointments for Nine, Estelle Cooper has joined the network as its group business director for television sales.

“Estelle is widely recognised as a future star and she is the perfect person to work alongside Clive to ensure we continue to lead the Perth market,” Stephenson said.
