Is Don Bradman unAustralian? The Gruen Transfer makes the case

Tomorrow’s challenge on ABC’s The Gruen Transfer may the toughest yet – how do you reposition cricketer Don Bradman as unAustralian?

Cummins Nitro – featured in the clip above – and KWP Adelaide go head-to-head in the 9pm show’s Pitch segment.

The Gruen Transfer panel, including guests Bridget Taylor and Matt Jones from Jack Morton Worldwide, also takes on one of the most controversial advertising issues so far this year – the Witchery man in the jacket fake video furore.

Meanwhile, the show has posted a series of personal ads in newspapers and on sites such as Gumtree and Craigslist saying:

35, single bloke, Aquarius, buy-curious.
Only just survived a red hot ten-week relationship this time last year.
Schedules tore us apart.
Now I’m ready for more probing than an alien abduction.
Don’t want permanent commitment, just a crazy, dangerous affair for, oh, two and a half months. Let’s keep it quick and dirty.
We’ll meet in public, get it on and you’ll be back on your couch in half an hour.
Best night of the week for me is Wednesday…

Those who responded were then emailed a link to Wil Anderson, host of The Gruen Transfer, doing his own spoof response to the jacket video.

Tomorrow’s programme will also look at dental advertising.
