It’s a dog’s life
Remember the days when ads were epic?
Happily they do in New Zealand.
This was created by DDB New Zealand for client Lotto. The Nick Cave soundtrack is merely a bonus.

Love it, couldn’t get sick of it!
that’s …amazing!
Bloody fantastic
Top notch short film. Sorry, ad.
Also, i loved the Cast Away reference (Wilsonnnnnnnn!!).
Thanks NZ Lotto, DDB NZ, The Sweetshop & Tim (for posting it).
You just made my day.
What sort of dog is it?
that’s a luckydog!
Wow – I can’t remember the last time I watched an ad that good…ever
Great ad…..what they spent on the idea and production will be saved many times over in media…..strong messages don’t need heavy weight tarps.
It’s a welsh terrier I think – basically a small airedale
Sure…. epic ad, but what’s the message?
Love it. Agree the message is a little unclear, but it makes me warm to a brand that I knew nothing about prior.
That’s a wire haired fox terrier. What a funny ad 🙂
WOW. Just…..WOW. I was a bit disappointed with the cat at the end, given he’s travelled all that way for this bloke. But what an amazing ad. Can’t remember ever being moved like that by an ad…especially one for Lotto!
LOVE IT
Awwww that is FABULOUS! What a gorgeous story. Love it too! 🙂
Best ad I’ve seen for years!
love love love
Isn’t it nice to see and ad that has a wee surprise in it?
I loved it. If he’d gone home to “Dad” it would have been a bit too obvious. I liked the twist at the end. And let’s face it; everyone can empathise on some level with hating the smugness of a cat – even cat lovers.
Meh… massive waste of NZ tax payers’ money if you ask me. (Which you didn’t.)
Thanks, someone just walked past my desk and asked why I was crying
Clever Kiwis…
Excellent Ad. Well worth it!
Well done!
Great TVC, if only Australian creatives have such vision? (& marketers the ability to get sign off)
if i were lotto i wouldnt bother “getting sign off” for this tvc. great little film, but good advertising is about more than that. wouldnt sell 1 lotto ticket, ever. doesnt even really capture the excitement of winning lotto
