‘It’s Kiwi Safety’: Air New Zealand remakes ‘It’s Tricky’ and ‘In the Neigbourhood’ with 600-strong cast

Air New Zealand has re-created songs It’s Tricky and The Neighbourhood, as part of its latest flight safety video.

The latest work out of Air New Zealand features talent including actor Julian Dennison and musicians King, Theia and Randa. Talent from 30 community groups across New Zealand have also participated in the 18th version of the safety video.

Dennison kicks off the latest video in front of a large audience, posed as a rapper in charge of a music video. He is joined by local New Zealand talent as well as Air New Zealand cabin crew, pilots, engineers, loaders and airline staff, who dance and sing to the song.

It is the largest scale video for Air New Zealand, with more than 600 people involved and a number of destinations, including Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, Balclutha, Hokitika and Naseby.

To celebrate the release, Air New Zealand has released its Kia Ora insight magazine with six different covers, celebrating the safety video’s talent.

Air New Zealand’s general manager, global brand and content marketing, Jodi Williams, said the new video celebrates New Zealand talent as well as locations.

“We know this video will make people proud to be New Zealanders – but will also showcase our unique Kiwi culture to the world,” Williams said.

“We’ve never had so many people in one safety video before or filmed in so many locations. It’s also been great to change up our formula and do a safety video in the style of a music video.  We’re sure everyone is going to love the remixed track It’s Kiwi – while at the same time getting our key safety messages.”

Air New Zealand’s creative agencies of record include True and Host/Havas.

The video is created by True and Exposure.
