Jack Post departs The Christian O’Connell Show

Christian O’Connell’s co-host Jack Post will leave the top-rating Gold 104.3 breakfast show this week, after seven years on air.

Post announced his departure on Monday morning, calling it “one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make in my life.”

“I love this show deeply, and it has given me so much,” Post wrote on Instagram. “But there is something in my gut telling me it’s time to close this chapter and write the next one.”

The Christian O’Connell Show launched on Gold in 2018 after the titular host relocated from the UK, following a successful broadcasting career in England. Post has been part of the show since its inception.

Aside from his work from O’Connell on the ARN station Gold 104.3, Post is also an integral part of the country’s most listened-to podcast, The Hamish and Andy Show, which he joined in 2008, when it was a drive show on Southern Cross Austereo’s Fox FM station.

He first met O’Connell in 2012, when Hamish and Andy were simulcasting Olympics-themed shows in London that went out to Christian O’Connell’s Absolute Radio breakfast audience in the UK and the pair’s Australian drive-time show.

When O’Connell was considering a move to Australia, Andy Lee recommended Post for his co-host role, as the Hamish and Andy show had just wrapped their radio contract with SCA.

“When I left radio with Hamish & Andy in 2017, I honestly didn’t know what was next for me — but I had an excitement and giddiness for the thrill of what it could be,” Post wrote on Instagram.

“I’m so happy it turned out to be The Christian O’Connell Show. It’s time to step away again, make space, and see what’s next.”
