Jack Post joins Christian O’Connell’s Gold 104.3 breakfast show as sidekick

The panel operator on the Hamish & Andy Show, Jack Post, has been revealed as Christian O’Connell’s producer and sidekick on Gold 104.3 FM’s new Melbourne breakfast show.

The new show launches on June 4, and Post said he was looking forward to riding on the coattails of O’Connell’s success.

“I’m excited to continue executing my simple career strategy: only work with radio’s most talented presenters and see how far their success can carry you,” he said in a statement.

“I’ve been a fan of Christian’s show for a long time and I can’t wait to see how Melbourne embraces him.”

Post has worked on the Hamish & Andy Show for the past 10 years, as well as on the duo’s TV show Hamish & Andy’s Gap Year.

O’Connell will also be joined by his Absolute Radio producer and friend, Nick Daly, for the launch.

ARN’s national content director Duncan Campbell said he was looking forward to finally filling the breakfast slow with the program – which has been without a big-name host since Jo & Lehmo’s contracts weren’t renewed.

“After a lot of planning and preparation I am genuinely excited to be welcoming Christian and his family to Australia next week,” Campbell said.

“His internationally acclaimed show format has made him one of the world’s most awarded radio hosts and reinforces ARN’s commitment to delivering innovative and high-quality content to or audiences. Melbourne listeners haven’t heard anything like this before.”

In the most recent radio ratings survey Gold 104.3 FM had a 7.0% audience share, down from 7.4% in the previous survey. Jo & Lehmo’s last radio ratings survey in November last year saw them command an 8.4% audience share, making them the most-listened-to breakfast show on the FM dial, but still well behind market-leading AM talk station 3AW, which was on 20.0%.

It is not yet clear who will replace Post on the weekly Hamish & Andy podcast.
