Jamie Oliver puts on a London Christmas feast in first appearance as face of Woolworths
Woolworths will kick off its Christmas campaign, and its first featuring chef Jamie Oliver, tonight with the first screening of the minute long commercial during the finale of Recipe to Riches on Ten tonight.
The commercials feature Oliver hosting an Aussie Christmas BBQ in London for Australians living in the city.
The ‘Bringing Christmas Together’ campaign, created by Droga 5, is the first since the announcement of Woolworths’ partnership with Jamie Oliver.
Woolworths general manager of marketing, Jess Gill said: “The Christmas commercial is an exciting first look at what is to come from our partnership with Jamie Oliver – it’s all about inspiring a healthier Australia through delicious and affordable fresh food.”
The Jamie Oliver Christmas campaign is supported by a website which provides shoppers with Christmas recipes and a social media campaign which gives the chance to Woolworths Facebook followers the chance to pull a virtual Christmas cracker with Oliver .
Thirty second and 15 second versions of the commercial will be rolled out in the coming weeks with the campaign also running online, in store and through catalogues.

I Looove Jamie Oliver but I’m disappointed he’s taken the cash with this. I think it compromises who he is and what he stands for.

To paraphrase the 10cc song “ethics for ethics sake, money for god sake.
They all sell out sooner or later when there’s a big Quid in it.
On ya Jamie!!

Now there’s a GOOD ad… (although wouldn’t it have been cheaper to fly him to Oz for the shoot?)

Being a part of this commercial was an exciting experience. Being an Australian living in London it’s good to know that we are not forgotten about. Thanks Jamie for the great campaign idea. I am excited to see the rest.
To all the critics out there… 99% of the people on this commercial are Australian so don’t hate on it.

Not to take away from Jamie Oliver but With the amount great local talent this is just a shame and embarrassing that Woolworths couldn’t see any value in investing locally.

To all the Jamie fanciers who think he has “sold out.”
British television and film stars have been coming to these shores for many many years to rake in advertising dollars.
Sir John Mills did the lovely Lord So and So who wanted a biscuit. Robert Morely did the Heinz pot ‘O’ soup, Sir Harry Secombe did Frist soft drinks and many others, and the list which includes old rockers, could go on for pages.
Jamie used to be a cute young boy who captured the hearts of many with his cheeky boyish grin and his unaffected ways, but time has passed, your warm inner glow may have remained in tact, meanwhile he has become a hardened man and the latest passenger creaming it on the old advertising gravy train, he has a seat right next door to Heston “money bags” thingummy.
You must go west young man …..er…no.. Go south! and skim the cream of the ad accounts.

Did Jamie and the crew go and lose their earnings on the pokies after the commercial was filmed?
Jamie and his ‘ethics’ helping to promote Australia’s largest owner of poker machines…
If that isnt a brand conflict (for Jamie) then please tell me what is? This is a total sell out and I wouldn’t be surprised if Jamie was not informed about Woolworths’ ‘dirty little secret’. Hey ho, he is bound to find out.

TO QUOTE PINK FLOYD …
Money, get away
Get a good job with more pay
And your O.K.
Money, it’s a gas
Grab that cash with both hands
And make a stash
New car, caviar, four star daydream
Think I’ll buy me a football team
Money get back
I’m all right Jack
Keep your hands off my stack
Money, it’s a hit
Don’t give me that
Do goody good bullshit
I’m in the hi-fidelity
First class traveling set
And I think I need a Lear jet
Money, it’s a crime
Share it fairly
But don’t take a slice of my pie
Money, so they say
Is the root of all evil
Today
But if you ask for a rise
It’s no surprise that they’re
Giving none away
