Jamie Scott named chair of SA Comms Council committee
Showpony Advertising MD Jamie Scott has been appointed chairman of the Communications Council’s South Australian committee.
The announcement:
Jamie Scott, Managing Director of Showpony Advertising, has been appointed the Chairman of The Communications Council’s South Australia Committee at its recent meeting in Adelaide.
Jamie takes over as chairman from industry veteran John Mclaren (Clemenger BBDO Adelaide), with the intention to grow membership both at an agency and individual level, and to build closer ties with the Adelaide Advertising and Design Club.
Scott said his committee’s objectives are initially twofold, demonstrating the value of industry body membership in terms of access to support and resources, especially for the smaller agencies that are common in the South Australian market. He also pointed to the importance of the collaboration with the AADC, given its complimentary nature to the Communications Council. He said the quality of Adelaide creative work was world class and highlighted the need for greater exposure of that work to the Adelaide marketing and business community.
He said: “I think we can harness the creativity and enthusiasm of a young committee and make significant changes to the way the industry presents itself to the broader business community. The opportunity to do more for the Communications Council, to get my hands dirty during what is a very dynamic period here in Adelaide is pretty exciting. ”
Jamie started his advertising career in the early nineties as a freelance designer before switching to account service roles at Grey Adelaide & Melbourne, and eventually Y&R Adelaide. In 1999 he joined forces with writer Parris Mesidis, and started the agency now known as Showpony Advertising. As Showpony’s managing director, Jamie has spent the last decade building agency credentials and an enviable client list that includes Bridgestone Tyres, Community CPS Credit Union, SA Health, DECS, Adelaide Zoo and Mclaren Vale Wine & Tourism. Showpony now has a staff of twenty one and a reputation for consistently great creative product.
Daniel Leesong, CEO of The Communications Council welcomed Jamie’s appointment and said that Jamie has been an energetic and valuable part of the South Australian committee which was a great basis from which to step up to the role of Chairman.
He also thanked outgoing Chair John Mclaren: “John has tirelessly worked to represent the Adelaide community for the past five years and raise the standing of creativity in South Australia. He’s made the committee a stronger and relevant body during often demanding times and we thank him for that work.”
