Jan Fran to host Mumbrella360 as big names enter the ring for the great indies vs network vs in-house debate

Media personality Jan Fran has been confirmed to host Mumbrella360, Australia’s media and marketing conference, set to take place in Sydney at the Hilton Hotel from Tuesday to Thursday next week.

Jan Fran

Fran is a Walkley-award winning journalist, TV presenter and social commentator. She’s best known for her work on the podcasts The Briefing and The Pineapple Project as well as TV shows The Project and The Feed.

At Mumbrella360 she will kick off both days of the conference including hosting two major sessions featuring international speakers Azure Antoinette and Hawaiian Airlines’ Avi Mannis.

Also confirmed is one of the most timely debates in the media and marketing industry. Who can serve a brand best – indies, networks or in-house teams?

Six senior executives will fight their corner in an epic (slightly tongue-in-cheek) battle hosted by Fear & Greed presenter Sean Aylmer.

Fear & Greed’s Sean Aylmer will host the debate

Representing the indies is Thinkerbell’s Adam Ferrier and Speed’s Ian Perrin (a reunion of the former Naked agency heavyweights). Going into battle for the networks is Clemenger BBDO’s Dani Bassil and Havas Media’s Virginia Hyland. While fighting for the in-house team is Lution’s Nick Thomas and Treasury Wine Estate’s Ben Culligan.

Each speaker will get five minutes to argue their case (10 minutes per team) with each team then getting a final two minute closing argument.

The debaters

The audience will decide who the overall winner of the debate is via the loudness of their applause at the end, measured very scientifically by a decibel meter smartphone app.

Debaters will join an already packed Mumbrella360 lineup of local and international leaders as well as media personalities including Tourism Fiji’s Brent Hill, BOQ’s Melody Townsend, Telstra’s Brent Smart, ARIA award winner Ella Hooper, DMG Media’s Sean Walsh, AFPs Marina Simoncini, Football Australia’s Tom Rischbieth, and joining virtually, Vayner X’s Gary Vaynerchuck, among many others.

Overall there are 10 international speakers flying into Sydney to take part in the conference.

Last minute tickets are available at Mumbrella360.com.au.
