JC Decaux promotes Oliver Newton to chief sales officer

Oliver Newton has been appointed to the role of chief sales officer at out-of-home provider JC Decaux, moving from his current position as general manager of sales.

His promotion will see Newton lead the JC Decaux agency and direct sales teams across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. He will also be responsible for driving engagement with media agencies and advertising partners.

Newton started his time with JC Decaux in the UK in 2006

In announcing his promotion, JC Decaux said Newton’s new role comes as recognition of the expanding breadth of the company’s partners, particularly with media agencies.

Chief commercial officer, Max Eburne, said: “Olly is a passionate and dedicated sales leader with a rare talent for identifying exactly what advertisers and agencies want.

“He has a proven capability in building strong, progressive and service-oriented sales teams that will continue JC Decaux’s success in realising the amazing opportunities that lie ahead of us.”

Newton joined JC Decaux in the UK in 2006 as a business development manager, before arriving in Australia in 2010 where he has since worked in roles including account manager, group sales manager, state sales manager and sales director.

He said leading the sales teams across Australia will be a privilege. “I am incredibly honoured to take on the role of chief sales officer, ensuring that we deliver exceptional client service and have customer success at the heart of everything we do.

It’s the latest in a string of appointments and promotions at the company so far in 2021. Earlier this year, JC Decaux appointed Kristian Muhllechner and Rob Sloan to the joint role of state sales directors for Victoria.

Last month, it announced its new programmatic offering, promoting Cassandra Cameron into the expanded role of executive general manager, revenue strategy and operations in the process.

Brad Palmer was hired as national programmatic director at the same time, while Kasey Climpson was appointed to the role of programmatic operations manager.
