“The role is the perfect fit for me – I have been a fan of the brand since launch and having worked with one of Australia’s largest health funds,” Williams said in a statement. “I hope to bring insights from both sides of the fence to further optimise our customers’ experience in their search for better prices.

“Compare the Market holds a position of trust among consumers who rely on its services to help them simplify the complex process of managing their everyday finances. Ultimately we want to help consumers save money by enabling them to find products better-suited to their individual needs,” said Jenny.

Williams will be reporting to Rob Clancy who recently accepted the role of chief executive officer, having served in an Acting CEO position for the previous six months. He has been with Compare The Market since the company’s founding,  initially holding the position of chief operating officer.

At the time of her departure from the insurer a company spokesperson said: “Jenny joined HCF in March 2015 and during that time made a significant contribution to the business implementing digital marketing transformation and relaunching the brand nationally.”

During her time at HCF Williams oversaw the insurers rebrand and made the move to bring the insurer’s digital media buying in house.

Throughout her career Williams has also held positions with McCann, Tribal DDB, Ideagarden and MRM.

James Burnett was previously the chief marketing and digital officer at Compare the Market for just over one year.

According to his LinkedIn, Burnett departed the company at the beginning of the year.

This story has been updated to include Williams’ and Compare The Markets’ comments which were received after publication.
