Jo Bladen appointed as director brand & content marketing at Foxtel

Foxtel has appointed Jo Bladen as director brand and content marketing, replacing Sarah Hewlett.

Hewlett is leaving to spend more time with family, and will be departing Foxtel in December.

Jo Bladen

Bladen’s previous role was at Roadshow Films as head of marketing, a position she held since 2019.

Bladen also spent over 20 years at The Walt Disney Company, most recently as vice president/general manager, studios and live entertainment.

In a staff email, executive director marketing Michael Nearhos wrote: “Her work includes developing longer-term brand and franchise strategies adapted for the local market, nurturing Disney’s social fan base for Marvel, and creation of premium events for Star Wars, using the strength of characters and connected storytelling at the heart of the activity. She has worked across Warner Bros content, and most recently led Marketing for Roadshow films ANZ – developing audience centric, innovative campaigns for local Australian content, The Dry and Penguin Bloom at Roadshow Films. In that, she worked with local talent and filmmakers to develop strategy from script/pre-production phase to launch and finally maximise revenues downstream.”

On Hewlett, Nearhos thanked her for her time and said: “All of us have really enjoyed working with Sarah and tapping into her deep knowledge of and passion for our customers. Sarah is highly regarded across the entire Foxtel Group, having led many of Foxtel’s most successful campaigns, including Ferris: Voice and All in One Place, Winter Codes, Wentworth and Succession. I know that when she’s ready for it again, she has a great career ahead of her.”

Bladen will be based in Melbourne and commences today, 24 November.
