Jo Casamento joins The Sun Herald as new gossip columnist

Fairfax Media’s The Sun-Herald has appointed Jo Casamento as its new gossip columnist.

The announcement:

The Sun-Herald has a hot new gossip writer

Starting next week, JO CASAMENTO will be joining the S team with a new high profile column and a brief to set tongues wagging all over Sydney with her fresh style, insider’s knowledge and enviable contact book.

Jo’s name is synonymous with Sydney’s celebrity scene, where for five years she broke and covered hundreds of Sydney’s most read stories. Her column was a must read for those inside and outside of the industry.

She was also a regular panellist on Ten’s Beauty and The Beast alongside the late Stan Zemanek and Doug Mulray, and a regular entertainment reporter on 2GB and 2UE. She had a weekly spot on Kyle and Jackie O’s Hot 30.com and also featured on Foxtel’s The Know among her many other engagements as a media identity.

A former highly commended Cadet Journalist of the Year, Jo has also worked for The Australian, The Sunday Telegraph as a fashion and social columnist and wrote The Daily Telegraph’s hot page 13 gossip column and then launched their gossip column – Sydney Confidential.

Five years ago, she changed direction entirely, swapping celebrities and canapés for nappies and sleepless nights of a different kind. Twins Maximus and Matisse are now five-years-old. Jo embraced motherhood whole heartedly, throwing herself into the role thoroughly and focussing on the twins, their gorgeous older half sister Phoebe, 14, and spirited three-year-old Allegra, while freelancing for several women’s titles and The Sydney Morning Herald Metro section.

She has been wooed back into Sydney’s social scene by the The Sun-Herald. At the much-loved S Section, she will focus on the world of celebrity once more.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be coming on board with the vibrant S Team,’’ she said.

‘‘Their smart, sassy and sophisticated coverage of Sydney’s social scene has made S the destination for Sydney’s who’s who and the people that want to know about it.

“I’m so excited to be part of that, and can’t wait to sprinkle a little spice into the mix! I hope to deliver S readers the hottest entertainment stories, celebrity interviews, pictures, goss, buzz and of course scandals every week, talking directly to the stars to make S the pulse of Sydney’s Sunday celebrity news in a reputable way.”

The Sun-Herald editor Simon Dulhunty said Jo Casamento was yet another great name joining The Sun-Herald family.

” We only want the best, and Jo is an exciting addition to S – easily Sunday’s best entertainment section.”

“Jo’s experience and style will bring a fresh look to the gossip pages and we’re very happy she’s on the team.”
