Jonathan Chancellor moves to editor-at-large of Property Observer

PropertyObserver-logo-234x35Veteran property journalist Jonathan Chancellor is to move to editor-at-large of the real estate website Property Observer, in a move which the company says is designed to “free him up” from editing the site he founded in 2011.

Private Media’s publisher Marina Go told Mumbrella that the appointment of Jennifer Duke as editor of Property Observer and the elevation of Chancellor the role of editor-at-large, was not a sign he was stepping back from the enterprise and that he would continue to work full time on the website.

“Jonathan remains very involved in steering the direction for Property Observer but I hope to utilise his skills, contacts and industry standing in a more strategic way,” said Go.

“He is the face of Property Observe and I hope to gain more from that position. I have effectively freed him up to spend more time with the market.”

The well-respected Chancellor defected from Fairfax Media to Private Media in 2011, establishing the Property Observer website as a competitor to his former employer.

Under the changes Duke will join Private Media, having previously edited of First Property Buyer and been features editor of Smart Property Investment Magazine.

“Having spent a number of years working in property publications and understanding what consumers want, I am excited to be joining such a respected and trusted site”, Duke said.

Duke will relocate from Sydney to Melbourne to take up the role.

Jonathan Chancellor, said he was pleased to welcome Duke to the team: “I am delighted to welcome Jennifer Duke to the team. As a website we will continue to deliver the most up to date, in-depth property market analysis to our growing readership. I look forward to driving this”.
