Junkee Media on the hunt for new AWOL editor, Kristen Amiet elevated to native lead

Junkee Media is on the hunt for a new editor of custom youth travel title, AWOL.

The mobile first publisher, which is run in-house at Junkee Media for Qantas, has been led by Kristen Amiet, who joined from Nine last year.

AWOL – a partnership between Sound Alliance (now Junkee) and Qantas – launched in 2014

However Amiet has been elevated to native lead across all of Junkee Media’s titles, leaving her current position vacant.

The publication was first launched by Sound Alliancenow renamed Junkee – in 2014, aiming to inspire 18-35 year olds to travel.

According to the advertisement, the new editor will handle writing daily news and features as well as manage an in-house staff writer. The editor will also be responsible for AWOL’s social video.

Junkee Media – which runs Punkee, AWOL and Westpac-funded site The Cusp – has appointed a number of new editors in the last year.

Four weeks ago the publisher revealed BuzzFeed senior writer Tahlia Pritchard as its new editor of Punkee. Last year it appointed Amelia Marshall as editor of The Cusp, and a year ago BuzzFeed’s Rob Stott joined Junkee and managing editor of Junkee and Punkee.
