Kate Vale to lead Spotify’s Australian operation from Los Angeles

First Googler: Vale

Vale: one of Australia’s most senior tech leaders

The boss of Spotify in Australia and New Zealand is set to continue leading the streaming service’s operations here, despite an imminent move to the US.

Kate Vale, who spearheaded the service’s growth in the region for the past four years, is set to move to Los Angeles in what Spotify has described as a ‘temporary move’ with her family, as her husband Justin Viles expands his transaction marketing business Rokt into the US.

A spokesman said: “Kate is temporarily relocating to Los Angeles with her family as her husband, Justin Viles, expands his company, Rokt, into the US. Kate will continue to manage Spotify’s AUNZ operations out of Spotify’s LA office, with regular trips back to Sydney.”

Vale is one of Australia’s most senior tech leaders and was the first employee of Google in the country, heading up sales and then taking the post of head of Youtube here in 2009 and 2010.

She is also a member of  the board of directors for Tourism Australia.

It is unclear how long she is relocating to the US for.
