Kayo subs in former Seven and SCA leader for director of marketing role

Kayo Sports has locked in a reputable name as its temporary director of marketing.

This week, the streamer confirmed that Tim Dwyer has taken on the position in a parental leave cover for Stephanie Lukin.

Dwyer has worked in senior positions for a number of big-name companies, including national marketing, news and sport for Seven, national director, brand and audience engagement for the Triple M network, and commercial content director at NOVA.

“It’s an exciting time to be joining the Kayo Sports team as they continue to deliver exceptional experiences for audiences,” Dwyer told Mumbrella.

“I’m looking forward to leveraging my marketing expertise to continue the platform’s incredible growth as it cements itself as the best value broadcast option for sports fans.”

The news comes after Kayo this week announced a new social-led content series to drive conversations around gender equity in sports.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Foxtel’s streaming and advertising division, Julian Ogrin, recently appeared on Mumbrella’s one-on-one podcast on the back of some impressive results for Kayo, which saw subscribers increase 14% year on year to 1.6 million subscribers (1.55 million paid).

According to Ogrin, live sport consumption is extremely healthy, with more older audiences using Foxtel and younger viewers skewing to Kayo.

“There is a lot of innovation happening and investment in innovation around AI-led… your ability to watch something and to watch it through a different lens,” he told host Neil Griffiths.
