KFC Australia appoints Edelman

PR agency Edelman has announced it is working with KFC.

One of Edelman’s first duties is to head off allegations from the green group this week that KFC is using packaging made from paper sourced from threatened Indonesian rainforests.

KFC Australia denied that it sources paper from non-sustainable sources.

The agency won the business after a three-way pitch, with a brief to handle KFC’s corporate social responsibility and brand marketing campaigns.

Nikki Lawson, KFC Australia’s CMO, said: “The Edelman team inherently understands our brand, current and upcoming business challenges, and our communication objectives here in Australia. Edelman presented a unified strategy, combining a traditional and digital PR framework which reflects KFC’s overarching vision and our commitment to corporate social responsibility.”

Kate Ferguson, director of Edelman’s brand practice and the KFC account lead, added: “We are so excited to have the opportunity to demonstrate our creativity and innovative solutions to help optimise the KFC brand in Australia and build awareness around their ongoing community and corporate social responsibility initiatives.”
