KFC launches promotion to throw party for 100 Facebook friends
KFC is launching a promotion based on the insight that most Facebook users rarely see their online friends in real life.
The fast food brand will help bring one customer’s friends together from around the world for what it claims will be the “the ultimate get together”.
The “Goodest Get Together” party, to take place on February 11, and its build-up will feature in a TV commercial.
Agencies involved in the promotion include creative agency Ogilvy, PR agency Edelman, events company Ensemble and media agency Mediacom.
Natasa Zunic, KFC’s marketing director for brand development, said: “Facebook is great for staying up to date with what your friends are doing, but there is nothing like face to face interactions to make truly meaningful connections.
“Australians love their mates, so we want to challenge them to get 100 of their Facebook friends together, from here and abroad, and we will pick up the tab for the party.”
The terms and conditions of the contest state that a maximum of five friends from overseas and 15 friends from interstate will be allowed.
Entry is via KFC’s Facebook page.
I’d like this better if they picked 100 of your Facebook friends randomly – it would make for such an interesting party especially now that people have accumulated so many ‘friends’ on Facebook.

Isn’t the point of Facebook that you no longer have to see those loose and long forgotten acquaintances in person anymore??

I can’t get past the title – ‘goodest’?!

“Facebook is great for staying up to date with what your friends are doing” – Really?

I would have thought that the fastest way to lose your Facebook friends would be to feed them Kentucky Fried Chicken.

If you can only invite 5 international and 15 interstate friends doesn’t that mean the remaining guest list will be 80 of your local friends you are likely to see anyway? Would have been the ultimate get together if you could have invited 20 of your friends from anywhere in the world and KFC picked up the tab.

Sounds like a fun idea and likely to be a hit with teenagers and those a little older. My children are in that agegroup and think this the goodest idea.
