Koala encourages supporting local businesses with $200 Deliveroo vouchers given to customers
Furniture retailer Koala is encouraging Australians to support local businesses throughout the COVID-19 crisis.
The initiative will reward customers who have bought Koala beds of sofas with a $200 Deliveroo voucher to spend on some small businesses.
A TVC features businesses owners from around Sydney sitting on a Koala sofa explaining the deal.
Andrew Cameron, head of creative at Koala, hopes if the campaign does not encourage customers to buy new furniture, it will at least remind people to order in some take away.
“We all have mates that are doing it tough in small business right now and we wanted to do what we could to help put food on the table of those that put food on our table. Thankfully, the legends at Deliveroo are just as conscious of the problems their partners are facing and wanted to help us help them.
“Even if people don’t buy with Koala, we hope it at least reminds them to jump on the Deliveroo app and order a Tikka Masala made by their mates down the road instead of one of those microwave ones that are always disappointing,” Cameron said.
The initiative will run from 2 April to 5 April.
The ad was created by Koala’s in-house team, and launched on the Nine Network.

People should just be given cash so that they can spend it directly with local restaurants that are seeking to keep their heads above water by initiating their own delivery service using front of house staff who would otherwise be out of a job. Deliveroo and UberEats have done NOTHING of substance (ie. reduce their fee) to help local businesses keep their doors open.
