Kyle Sandilands: Vote Clive and get him to abolish ACMA
In the fortunately highly unlikely event that mining magnate Clive Palmer gets into power, first against the wall will be media watchdog ACMA, his cheerleader Kyle Sandilands has decreed.
A week after the controversial FM jock ‘twerked’ with Clive, Sandilands yesterday endorsed the wanna-be Prime Minister on his show telling listeners:
“Let’s roll this guy, (Palmer) into power and change some laws,” Sandilands told his audience. ”The first thing to go: ACMA – gone. That’s the authority that runs the radio codes.”
Sandilands, who has had multiple encounters over the years with the media watchdog, then expanded on this with the following explanation:
“Even though the government owns the ABC and Triple J, and they’re allowed to say F this and C that, they have no rules over at the ABC and Triple J they can do what they want and say what they want.”
Not surprisingly, given that 2Day is currently fighting ACMA in the courts in a battle that could yet cost its licence, the producer tasked with operating the studio warning light when Sandilands is on dangerous ground, began to flash it (Dr Mumbo imagines) frantically.
“Over here where all the listeners actually are – stop flashing the light, you’ve still got your job – we are not allowed to say anything and the government wants me off the air. They are hell bent on getting rid of me and I’m not going anywhere.”
Listen to Sandilands’s full soliloquy:
nope, just abolish Kyle, and Clive will get my vote:)

Kyle – the Government aren’t the only ones who want you off the air.
You pollute our airwaves and televisions with rude, disgusting and spiteful behaviour. Great role model for Australias youth – I think not.

I listen to the show each morning and I love this site but Kyle didn’t mean any harm with this and the people who comment with negativity towards kyle, it’s not needed! A

If you look at the ratings trends, Kyle is slowly but surely being defeated by something more powerful than ACMA – a radio audience that is getting tired of him.

Kyle seems such a satirical character: how can any body really be so crass and ignorant and yet manage to leverage these human low points as valuable marketing pull?
It is so sad that we are still, evidently, prepared to endorse and support the tawdry and low value behaviour and comments of Kyle. Like a spiteful 8 year old he visciously goes after a journo who makes an observation which he does not like…then he openly shows contempt for the body which holds his industry to account. Distilled – Kyle you behave as a petulant brat.
Does Kyle really represent the mindset and values of a significant portion of Australia. If so.. we all really need some counselling!!
