Kyle Sandilands to radio rivals: I’m staying another three years and you can suck my arse

Kyle Sandilands has signed a three year extension on his 2Day FM breakfast contract, using the announcement to taunt rival network Nova and tell rivals to “suck my arse”.

In his final broadcast of the year, Sandilands told listeners that despite “strained relationships with on and off over the years” with Austereo management, he was staying on, as was co-presenter Jackie O.

He said: “Those over at Nova, sorry, you’re still not going to win next year because I’m staying right here.”

Taking aim at Merrick Watts, who presents Nova’s Sydney breakfast show with Scott Dooley, Sandilands taunted the presenter over the axing of Ricki-Lee Coulter, who presenter her last show today, and replacement with Katie ‘Monty’ Dimond next year. He said:

“I reckon Merrick even thought, Jesus, I might be able to go over to a show that works. Sorry, you’re over there with the tool and whatever chick you try and put in to to make yourself female friendly next year. To all the other radio stations that I know listen to us on a daily basis and wish they had half the show we’ve got, you can suck my arse because you ain’t got nothing.”

Today marked the last day of the radio ratings year. The final set of ratings data will be released on Tuesday.

In the last set of ratings, the 2Day FM Kyle & Jackie O breakfast show had an audience share of 11.8%. Merrick, Dools & Ricki-Lee were on 7.5%.

General Manager for 2Day FM Adam Lang said: “We are thrilled to have two of Australia’s most talented and high profile celebrities sign with us for another three years.”

Nova declined to respond to Sandilands’ comments.
