Kyle Sandilands launches weight loss initiative ‘Big Fatso Club’
Radio broadcaster Kyle Sandilands is calling on “fatties” across the country to join him in his ‘Big Fatso Club’ as he seeks to drop weight without dramatic or unrealistic changes to his diet and lifestyle.
Sandilands was clear on Wednesday’s show that he’s not calling the weight-loss venture a “transformation” because if he did, “people are going to think I’m going to turn into a different sex”.
The initiative was supposed to launch on Tuesday, however Sandilands was sick that day. The change in schedule meant the program launched on “Cheat Day” Wednesday, enabling participants to eat whatever they like.
Sandilands, along with ‘Intern’ Pete Deppeler, was clear that the changes to participants’ diet and lifestyle would be gradually introduced. Currently, for example, the program will only recommend what to eat for breakfast – such as an egg white omelette with spinach – while leaving other meals up to the participants.
Sandilands said celebrity chefs including Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge are on board to help design the meal recommendations.
Former competitive boxer Jeff Fenech has also been recruited to assist with fitness tips, with his first recommendation being a pacey 20-minute walk. Deppeler suggested an additional rule that participants not smoke for 30 minutes prior to exercise.
“This is all about us fatties coming together and doing as little as possible to lose as much as possible. We’re all about realistic goals and making your weight-loss journey fit into your life, not the other way around. We use a mix of science, knowledge from fitness experts and a healthy dose of self-deprecation to lose a few kilos,” marketing material for the initiative said.
With slightly less spin, Sandilands said on Wednesday’s program: “It’s about moving away from the chocolate milks and the iced coffees at the servo. But you can still have that stuff – there’s the coconut water version, there’s water. I’ve got rid of all soft drink over the last few weeks, which is very difficult. None. I’ve had zero.”
Sandilands referred to various people on his team, including co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson and newsreader Brooklyn Ross as “thinnies” and “fingers” (“because they look like fingers”).
He also referred to Ross’ breakfast of avocado and tuna as “just gay shit”.
Henderson is supportive of the initiative, but this was laced with some scepticism.
“I’ve just seen Kyle over the years make these grand claims, and they never, ever last,” she said.
Sandilands fired back, noting Henderson’s own chequered past with weight-loss initiatives.
“[Kyle’s Big Fatso Club is] all free. You don’t have to pay no Weight Watchers bullshit. Remember how Jackie had to give the money back? [It was] so embarrassing,” he said.
Kyle’s Big Fatso Club is taking registrations, with the description explaining: “If there’s one thing we can all agree on about Kyle, it’s that this is a man who’s made an artform of putting himself first and finding the easiest way out of doing things in life. Kyle brings this unique attitude to weight loss.”
Kyle needs to drink apple cider vinegar with lemon juice as well as some honey and ginger in a cup . He on needs to add the teaspoon of each ingredient and add a bit of water give it a big stir then drink it just before going to bed every night and first thing in the morning. Then he will stop feeling bloated and the weight will come off. It as work for me
