Latest ads: KFC, Custom Plates, McDonald’s, Energy Australia, Kmart

Here’s a roundup of a few of the new ads you might have noticed on TV recently.

KFC is pushing its latest limited-time creation – the Zinger Taco – with an ad featuring people trying the “genius” meal.  Ogilvy Sydney is KFC’s creative agency of record.

Victoria’s Custom Plates is promoting its new Japanese plates, designed to be the same size of authentic Japanese plate so they will fit into the plate recess of a Japanese imported car, with an ad featuring a legendary master hand-painting the plate.

McDonald’s has clearly signed a partnership with Universal Pictures, the distributor of kids movie Minions. The fast-food chain is promoting its Minions Happy Meal and its Minion Extra Extra Value Meal with these Minion-themed ads.

Energy Australia‘s new ‘wise move’ positioning is seeing owls suddenly appear in people’s homes as they contemplate their energy bills. The latest ad, created by Leo Burnett, in the marketing push sees a woman stunned to find a helpful owl perched on her laptop. But instead of hurrying to get a quick quote, she turns her computer in circles mesmerised by the owl’s ability to turn its head around to match the motion.

Kmart is spruiking the “irresistible” designs of its shirts, mugs, pyjamas and toys in its latest spot. BWM Dentsu is Kmart’s creative agency of record.
