Laura Jayes joins Kieran Gilbert as co-anchor of Sky News’ First Edition and AM Agenda
Political reporter Laura Jayes will join chief political reporter Kieran Gilbert as co-anchor of its flagship breakfast news program First Edition and morning political program AM Agenda Live from Monday.
Jayes began her career at Sky News in 2006 as Brisbane reporter. Most recently she has held the role of political reporter and anchor of NewsDay and The Latest.
She has covered the 2012 and 2013 Labor leadership challenges, 2015 Liberal leadership challenge and three federal elections.
Jayes has also reported on Brexit from London, the war in Afghanistan from Kabul, Kandahar and Tarin Kowt and Donald Trump’s election win and inauguration in Washington. She is also one of the only journalists to have been granted access to Nauru.
“What a great privilege to be working alongside a wonderful mentor, excellent journalist and all-round decent human,” said Jayes. “I’m humbled to be invited into the homes of thousands of Australians. We all lead busy lives so we promise not to waste your time. You’ll only need to come to one place to find out exactly what you need to know in politics, business, news, weather and sport.
“Kieran and I will also join forces to bring you AM Agenda, the only weekday morning program dedicated to politics,” she added. “I’m proud of our track record on breaking political news – with the two of us, you can’t go wrong.”
Gilbert added: “Laura is one of the sharpest, best-connected and most insightful political journalists of her generation. I’m honoured to work with her. She is also hilarious and a great friend. I can’t wait to work with her.”
Laura Jayes is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo pretty.

I’m an avid sky news observer,
Love to be informed in a ‘balanced ‘ way .
Would love to see you Laura more critical of the Labour policies.. At least to the same extent as you are with Clive and the liberal party.
It’s about time our political reporters ( you included). Showed some honesty and openly admitted their/ your political biases instead of presenting ‘information ‘ as facts..
I’m so sorry if this message sounds aggressive ( it’s not meant that way).
I am just so frustrated with the strong left wing bias that cheers on the election of political party’s that undermine the efforts of hard working Australians that just want to improve themselves.
There are Australians that are prepared to work their ass off ( making all kinds of sacrifices). In order to ‘get ahead ‘… only to be classed as ‘ not hard working ‘
– millionaires
– the top end of town … etc
We pay ridiculous taxes… it’s almost soul destroying to work for almost 1/2 the year just for the government… to then… pay themselves a nice wage …. and then largely redistribute to others that have not made the sacrifices our family has … why are they more valuable than us ???
Let’s look after those that need a hand.
Let’s support those people less fortunate than ourselves!
Let’s say goodbye to CLASS WARFARE
Yours sincerely
Vivian
