Food Network to rebrand as SBS Food and feature more Australian talent

SBS’ Food Network is to be rebranded as SBS Food from November 17, the broadcaster has announced.

The news comes as SBS’ three-year deal with US-based Scripps Networks Interactive (SNI), the channel’s major supplier, expires.

According to Marshall Heald, SBS’ director of TV and online content, the rebranded channel will feature a wider mix of Australian and global food personalities, including Adam Liaw, Poh Ling Yeow, Shane Delia, Peter Kuruvita, Luke Nguyen and for the first time Maeve O’Meara.

Global chefs to be featured on the rebranded channel will include Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson, Rick Stein, Jamie Oliver and Kylie Kwong.

Heald said: “We’re excited to continue to discover and nurture home-grown talent and develop new programs following the success we’ve had introducing fresh new local faces to Australian audiences over the last 12 months.”

The newly-rebranded SBS Food will remain on channel 33, and will continue to air on SBS On Demand.
