Leading Irish PR mind joins BMF, Red Agency, Finder and Klick Communications speaking at Mumbrella CommsCon
Ellen Gunning, the director of the Irish Academy of Public Relations and author of the book Public Relations: A Practical Approach, will fly in from Dublin to speak at Mumbrella CommsCon 2019, her first speaking appearance in Australia.
Gunning, who has over 25 years experience in PR including running her own agency, Elton Communications, will discuss the role of ethics in modern PR and communications in light of the trust issues which have plagued the industry over the last few years.
She will draw from her chapter on ethics from Public Relations: A Practical Approach as well as her experience representing a range of different clients and studying various high-profile examples.
Mumbrella CommsCon will take place on March 28, 2019, at the Westin in Sydney and will be followed by the Mumbrella CommsCon Awards. Earlybird tickets are on sale now and entries to the awards are currently open.
Joining Gunning in speaking at the event is Klick Communications director, Kim McKay. She will lead a panel session discussing the new content cycle of media and what content creators are really looking for.
With the shake-up of the way media companies work and the content that they produce, McKay will ask leading content creators what they are looking for, how their content cycles have changed and why PR and communications professionals should be fostering relationships with them.
Angus Kidman, editor-in-chief at Finder.com.au, is the first content-side industry leader to be confirmed on the panel. He heads up content creation for the business, which is a relatively new player in the content creation space and has hired a large number of trained journalists, including Kidman, to lead its content charge.
DVM Law partners Stephen Von Muenster and Sam Berry will also take to the stage to discuss protecting brands and agencies when working with social influencers.
The detailed session will cover the legals around the fake follower phenomenon, influencer hijacking and insincere influencers, while providing solutions for what to do if issues arise.
The session will explore current legal developments and real-life examples, while delegates will have the opportunity to ask questions about issues arising in their agency and in-house teams.
Also confirmed are additional speakers for the panel addressing marketing collaboration and PR’s position when it come to working with other agencies.
BMF Sydney managing director Steve McArdle will join Red Agency Sydney executive director, Jackie Crossman, with the already confirmed CMO of Tourism Australia, Lisa Ronson, and founder and global CEO of Trinity P3, Darren Woolley, who will moderate the panel.
