Lego creates a lost Santa animated ad for Christmas

CHE Proximity has created an animated film made out of Lego telling the story of Santa Claus being flung far away from his home, creating chaos on the North Pole.

The one minute film shows Santa working with his reindeers and elves before being flung under the bed by a child’s foot.

The ad shows the North Pole stop functioning once Santa has left with presents falling off the conveyer belt and elves bumping into each other.

Using discarded Lego pieces from under the bed, Santa and a friend muster up a sleigh so Santa can return home just in time for Christmas.

Ant White, ECD of CHE Proximity, said the campaign aims to put Lego on everyone’s Christmas list.

The campaign is set to run across TV, digital, out-of-home, social and in-store channels.

Kyra Bartley, director of the film, said: “Bringing this Lego Christmas story to life in stop motion was such a dream brief. It took over 100 hours of animation, shot over 9 days, and around 12,000 Lego pieces from 9 different sets to build, featuring 13 different characters (plus one pooping reindeer).

“I’m sure everyone has nostalgic memories of building magical Lego worlds as a kid, so doing that inner child’s sense of imagination justice was really a driving force for me.”
