Lego Masters helps Nine take Sunday, but Seven celebrates first weekly win of 2021

Lego Masters continues to bring in viewers for Nine, with the Hamish Blake hosted program airing to 811,000 metro viewers on Sunday night, securing the top spot among non-news programming.

The program came in ahead of MasterChef Australia, which took 892,000 metro viewers for Ten, and Seven’s Big Brother, watched by 534,000 metro viewers.

Lego Masters’ performance also helped Nine to a nightly network share win with 30.8% ahead of Seven on 26.5%, Ten with 20.1% and ABC with 14.4%, with the program also winning all three key advertising demos.

Among other Sunday programming, ABC’s Spicks and Specks brought on 530,000 metro viewers, to rank seventh for the night. Meanwhile, Seven’s AFL: Sunday Afternoon Football was watched by 530,000 metro viewers (the bulk of which were in Perth and Melbourne).

285,000 metro viewers tuned in for Nine’s Sunday Afternoon NRL Live.

The top rating program overall on Sunday was Seven News – Sunday, with 1.030 million metro viewers, while second place went to Nine News Sunday which also cracked the million mark on 1.009 million metro viewers.

But while Sunday night belonged to Nine, the weekly ratings to Saturday, May 1, saw Seven take line honours for the first time in 2021.

Seven had a network share of 30.0%, in front of Nine with 27.5%, Ten with 18.4% and the ABC on 16.1%. Seven also narrowly won the primary channel share, with 20.9% ahead of Nine on 19.3%.

Seven also won every night of last week except for Wednesday, which was taken out by Nine with the return of Travel Guides.

Looking back at the week’s top programs, news programming dominated the top ten offerings across the week. Seven News and Seven News at 6.30 took out the top three spots.

The #1 entertainment program was the finale of Dancing With The Stars: All Stars, with 822,000 metro viewers watching the winner announcement, which was seventh overall for the week.

The second-most-watched program was Lego Masters on Monday, with 742,000 metro viewers tuning in.

The #1 multi-channel across the week was 10 Bold with a 3.9% share.
