Liam Hemsworth joins The Expendables 2

Former Neighbours star Liam Hemsworth will join Sylvester Stallone on Expendables 2, reports Variety.

Hemsworth, the brother of Thor‘s Chris Hemsworth is currently making waves with The Hunger Games (dir: Gary Ross).

He will add some youth to the sequal of last year’s The Expendables (dir: Sylverster Stallone) that starred Hollywood’s elder screen mercenaries; Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film will be produced by Millenium Films and distributed by Lions Gate.

Hemsworth will play a sniper in the film that starts production next month. It will also star Jean Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris and is rumoured also to feature Nicholas Cage and John Travolta.

The Melbourne-born actor is due to star as Ali Baba in Arabian Nights (dir: Chuck Russell) and is rumoured to be attached to The Power of the Dark Crystal. He has indie film AWOL (dir: Danny Mooney) on the way, starring alongside Adelaide’s Terese Palmer (Wish You Were Here), while he was last seen in The Last Song with girlfriend Miley Cyrus .
