The announcement:

Queensland-based production company Like A Photon Creative (LAPC) have partnered with YouTube creatives Charli and Ashlee Kelly, of Charli’s Crafty Kitchen, to create a unique animated online children’s series – Crafty Kingdom.

Charli’s Crafty Kitchen is the largest YouTube kids baking show in the world. These two mini chefs have 780,000 subscribers, with over 230 videos on their channel, two of which have had more than 100 million views each.

The new animated series Crafty Kingdom follows the fast-paced adventures of Charli and Ashlee – princesses and mischief-makers- as they bake, make and create together in their own delicious world. With Charli’s outgoing, spunky sense of leadership and Ashlee’s contagious love of life, it’s a recipe for delicious mischief and scrumptious fun!

“I really enjoyed voicing over Princess Charli, it was really cool and very educational too” said Charli Kelly.

“Mr Nibbles is so cute, I love and love and love Crafty Kingdom!” said Ashlee Kelly.

LAPC Creative Director Nadine Bates said their partnership with Charli’s Crafty Kitchen provided a way to reach new audiences with enriching multi-platform content. “It was incredibly exciting to be working in such an innovative space with fun, young creatives.”

Charli’s Crafty Kitchen was a 2016 recipient of Screen Australia and Google’s Skip Ahead program, which offers Australian YouTube creators the opportunity to make longer content on a larger scale, and has supported the next generation of Australian creatives over the past three years. The videos made from this program have amassed more than 5.5 million views on YouTube.

Mike Cowap, Screen Australia’s Investment Manager Online Production, said: “Skip Ahead is about supporting top YouTubers to make more ambitious content and grow their audience. Through their collaboration with experienced animation studio Like A Photon Creative, Charli and Ashlee have created a fun, imaginative short series that will entertain their hundreds of thousands of fans around the world.”

Kristen Bowen, Head of Top Creators, YouTube Asia Pacific, said: “We’re proud to work with Screen Australia on Skip Ahead to help turbocharge the next generation of Australian online storytellers.”

The first episode of Crafty Kingdom will be available this Thursday on YouTube! New episodes will be released weekly, with three episodes in total.
