Limited WA release for Little Sparrows
Yu-Hsiu Camille Chen’s Little Sparrows will have a limited cinema release in Western Australia through Luna Palace Cinemas.
“We are delighted that we have been given the opportunity to show Perth audiences Camille’s very touching and moving drama. We encourage everyone to come along to see it and help support one of Perth’s very talented filmmakers, as well as the many truly gifted actors that help make this film special,” said Luna Palace’s managing director Van Den Berghe.
The film tells the story of three sisters. Nina is widowed with two young children. Anna is an aspiring actress unhappily married to a filmmaker. Christine is a med student who is yet to fully come to terms with her sexuality. When their mother Susan’s breast cancer returns, the family is faced with choices and the reality of their last Christmas together.
The theatrical season will begin on May 5, and will feature Mother’s Day promotions as well as a fundraising screening for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (June 3).
Little Sparrows has won the 2010 DigiSPAA Spartan Award for Best Digital Feature Film, as well Outstanding Drama at the WA Screen Award.
