Lisa Wilkinson suing Network 10 over Lehrmann legal bills

Lisa Wilkinson is suing Network 10 over her legal bills in the Bruce Lehrmann defamation case.

Wilkinson chose not to engage Channel Ten’s usual legal firm Thomson Geer, instead employing both Gillis Delaney Lawyers and Sue Chrysanthou SC.

The proceedings, filed in the Supreme Court, allege that Ten accepted it was responsible for indemnifying Wilkinson despite her using a separate legal team, then instead said it will pay her costs as a bulk payment once the proceedings had concluded.

A Channel Ten spokesperson told Mumbrella: “The lawyers engaged by Lisa Wilkinson have issued invoices for a very substantial amount of money, in excess of $700,000, and in good governance these need to be justified through due process.

“In the meantime, Network 10’s focus is on defending the defamation claim brought by Bruce Lehrmann.”
