Hunter & Coastal Lifestyle Magazine on the market after 15 years

Marilyn and Phil Collins, publishers of Hunter & Coastal Lifestyle Magazine have put the title up for sale, after more than 15 years of covering the Hunter Valley and Central Coast region.

The magazine celebrates the region, its people and lifestyle featuring recipes, book reviews and, more recently, weddings.

Since launch, Marilyn Collins has been responsible for the editorial while her husband Phil Collins has handled advertising. One other graphic designer works full time on the publication. The 180 page title is printed with Blue Star and costs $9.90.

The couple, who have been in business together for the last 49 years, were also behind the Morisset and Westlake Courier which ran from 1984-1995. It was sold to Fairfax Media and later closed down.

After unexpected urgent brain surgery for Collins, which requires a long recovery, the couple are unable to continue running the publication.

As Collins looks after her husband, she is hoping someone will take the helm that is “genuine” and “passionate” about highly quality journalism, and real people.

“It is the only magazine of its kind for the Hunter Region and has a wonderful following. Some advertisers have advertised with us for 15 years ( 90 issues as we are bimonthly”),” Collins said.

“We’d love see a  person carry on what we have started with the same enthusiasm for quality journalism.

“We both don’t want to see Hunter Lifestyle close down after all our hard work. It’s our passion, – it’s been our life.”
