Logies announces most popular TV commercial finalists
The TV Week Logie Awards has announced the finalists for its new category, the ‘most popular TV commercial’ award.
Twelve ads have made the shortlist, including BMF’s Australia Santa Crashes Christmas for Aldi, UM and Droga5’s Dundee ad for Tourism Australia and The Monkeys’ ‘Lamb side story’ for MLA.
The Logies introduced the award earlier in January with the aim of recognising excellence in advertising.
The new award celebrates the most creative, entertaining and the best TV commercials produced for Australian audiences and consumers.
This year’s judging panel consisted of Adam Thorn, Mumbrella Bespoke editor; Pippa Chambers, AdNews editor; James Manning, Mediaweek editor; Michael Lynch, Campaign Brief CEO and founder; David Hovenden, B&T editor and publisher; Thomas Woodgate, TV Week editor; and general manager of Bauer Media’s Story54, Jane Waterhouse.
Thomas Woodgate, editor of TV Week, said in a statement: “We had an overwhelming response to this campaign in its very first year and we are thrilled to be submitting some of Australia’s finest creative for the consumer vote.
“It’s been really pleasing to see how the industry has embraced this award. It was our intention to showcase the creativity within the advertising industry and the level of submissions was superb.
“Some of the best creative is being produced right here in Australia and the commercials this year proved that. We were looking for ads that really captured the diverse nature of our country and there were plenty.”
