Macca’s names new marketing director for menu and food portfolio

McDonald’s Australia has found a new marketing director in former Coles talent Samantha McLeod.

Set to start the new role in September, McLeod will lead the menu and food marketing portfolio, responsible for the delivery of customer-focused strategies.

She previously held the general manager brand, digital and design role at Coles, as well as roles at BBH London, Mother, and Lowe Profero, part of the MullenLowe group.

McDonald’s Australia’s senior vice president and chief customer officer, Chris Brown, said her appointment supports a renewed focus on customer experience and creative excellence.

“I’m thrilled Sam is joining the team,” he said.

“She brings the perfect combination of branding, digital and customer-focused marketing, especially in fast and dynamic retail environments.

“This understanding will help us continue to build our marketing capability and provide the best possible customer experience wherever and whenever,” Brown concluded.

McLeod said she’s looking forward to this new chapter under the iconic golden arches.

“What drew me to Macca’s is not just the lure of the brand, but also the opportunity to join a business that is genuinely committed to deliver on the promise of a great customer experience, while also making a tangible positive difference in the lives on their customers and people,” she said.

McLeod succeeds former marketing director Tim Kenward, who was promoted to senior marketing director, McDonald’s International Operated Markets. He was relocated to London earlier this year, where he will be leveraging market expertise and global strategies to build the global brand.
