MAFS juggernaut rolls on with series high 1.116m metro viewers

Nine’s flagship entertainment program Married at First Sight scaled new heights for its 2021 season overnight, pulling in a series high of 1.116 million metro viewers.

The latest commitment ceremony saw MAFS easily win the three key advertising demographics across the five metro markets. The episode brought in 1.417 million when looking at the national average, with a peak of 1.817 million.

It was one of three programs on Sunday to air to over a million metro viewers, with Seven News – Sun (1.077m) and Nine News Sunday (1.049m) also cracking the milestone.

ABC News Sunday brought 654,000 metro viewers, while Nine’s daily win was helped by the strong performance of 60 minutes (589,000 metro viewers)

Seven’s primetime offering of 7News Presents Ivan Milat Buried Secrets aired from 7pm to 9pm to an average of 502,000 metro viewers, making it the sixth-ranked program of Sunday.

Meanwhile, The Amazing Race Australia brought 493,000 to Ten at 7:30pm, allowing it to finish in seventh.

In the sporting battle on Sunday, Seven’s AFL coverage came out on top with 419,000 metro viewers watching St Kilda topple the GWS Giants.

Nine’s coverage of the Roosters smashing the Tigers aired to an average audience of 264,000.

Unsurprisingly, Nine won the night, with the performance of MAFS and 60 Minutes helping garner a 34.7% network share. Seven was in second with 26.3%, ahead of Ten (15.5%), and ABC (15.2%).

9GO! meanwhile claimed the title of the #1 multichannel on Sunday, with a 3.6% share.
