Makeovers boost Beauty and the Geek as Seven wins night

Despite another Thursday of subdued audiences where no show broke the 1m viewer mark, many programs saw some viewer growth on last week, with Beauty and the Geek, Madam Secretary and Kings Cross ER all posting improved numbers.

The makeover episode of Seven’s Beauty and the Geek last night saw its audience swell from 612,000 viewers to 753,000, according to OzTam Metro ratings. The show, which airs from 8pm to 9.45pm,  didn’t air last week, allowing an extra episode of Dancing with the Stars to air in its place which Seven said was normal for the series.

Seven just managed to pip Nine to win the night with an audience share of 19.4 per cent, while Nine settled for a share of 19 per cent. ten also held off ABC with 12 per cent share to 11.9 per cent.

Home and Away, at 7pm, was the most watched non-news show of the night pulling a metro audience of 853,000.

Meanwhile on Nine, Kings Cross ER, on at 7.30pm through till 8.30pm, won its timslot with an audience of 840,000, up on last week’s audience of 709,000.

Big Brother, airing from 8.30pm, saw its audience tumble to 534,000 after growing to 630,000 last week. It was beaten by Madam Secretary on Ten, which was watched by 573,000 viewers, up slightly on last week’s audience of 530,000.

Also on Ten, a repeat of Save with Jamie on at 7.30pm pulled an audience of 411,000, up slightly on last week’s audience of 404,000.

Ten managed to grab an audience share of 12 per cent, just managing to beat the ABC which had to settle for a share of 11.9 per cent.

The ABC’s Upper Middle Bogan drew an audience of 589,000, beating rivals Big Brother and Madam Secretary. It was up from last week’s audience of 530,000. It’s a Date, on at 9pm, was watched by 451,000.

In News, Nine won the night with 959,000 viewers tuning in from 6pm, and 948,000 from 6.30pm. Seven News at 6pm was watched by 951,000 while Seven News/Today Tonight at 6.30pm was watched by 873,000.
