Mamamia launches ‘world’s first dating podcast’

Mamamia is launched a audio-based dating experiment – Eligible

The announcement:

The world’s first dating podcast (with a twist): will it be love at first sound?

If you’re tired of looking for love in all the wrong places, it might be time to shut up and listen. Over-promising and under-delivering has left us with dating app fatigue, and so this Valentine’s Day Mamamia is changing the game.

Mamamia has created the world’s first dating podcast, (there might be an obscure one in Norway – but we certainly haven’t heard of it). ‘Eligible’ will let women get back to trusting what their ears are telling them, before taking things further; a conscious coupling of ancient instinct and podcast convenience.

Plus, all Mamamia’s eligibles will come with references, meaning we’re not wasting her time. Eligibles can also be male, female or gender non-binary, catering to our female audience regardless of her sexuality.

Mia Freedman, Mamamia’s Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer, who revealed Eligible at Mamamia’s Upfronts in October, said: “Our audience are tired of swiping left or right and getting nowhere, and a podcast gives us the perfect opportunity to tap into her innate ability to tell a lot from someone’s voice. Eligible is for singles and non-singles for the entertainment factor, and I hope we get to celebrate some successful matches in season one.”

Eligible is hosted by Rachel Corbett, who regular Mamamia listeners will know brings a typically candid Mamamia perspective to all things dating. At the end of each episode’s intro to the eligible, Rachel will share a passcode that listeners can use to open up more information about the eligible on mamamia.com.au, including seeing their picture and how to get in touch.

Series one, which consists of 12 weekly episodes, is sponsored by Fantastic Furniture and is dropping (or maybe picking up) this Friday 14th February at 3pm.

Mamamia is Australia’s largest owned and operated new audio network, and its raft of award-winners include: ‘The Quicky’, Best Podcast at Mumbrella Publish; ‘No Filter’, a Spotify Pick Of The Decade; and ‘The Split’ (a collaboration with Westpac), Best Use Of Podcast at the International Native Ad Awards in Berlin.
