Mamamia’s editor Clare Stephens to step into newly-created role as executive editor

Women’s lifestyle network Mamamia has promoted Clare Stephens to executive editor, after being in the position of editor-in-chief for one year.

Stephens has been on a steep trajectory since joining the company as an intern. She was editorial assistant for five months before moving to a site producer role for nine months. Stephens then became weekend editor, a role she held for two years and seven months before her promotion to morning editor, which she held for six months.

Stephens is also one half of ‘The Twins’ blog which took over the role of recapping reality shows for Mamamia when Rosie Waterland left the business.

Holly Wainwright,  head of content, Mamamia, told Mumbrella: “Our editor-in-chief Clare Stephens has truly excelled as the leader of Mamamia’s written and social teams. After more than two years, her role is now evolving to be more content-focused as her creative projects for Mamamia gain pace.

“Clare is the co-host of Cancelled, our new comedy podcast which has been at Number One in the apple podcast charts for most of the past week, and she’s turning her focus to that and other editorial projects while continuing to focus on creative briefs for our valuable clients. We’re excited about finding a new editor-in-chief to build on the extraordinary work Clare has done.”

Mamamia are still yet to fill the vacant role of editor-in-chief.
